Family law is constantly evolving. Whether you are an experienced practitioner or just starting out, having quick access to the right resources can make all the difference. That’s why the Great Library is proud to release a new, comprehensive Family Law Research Guide for Ontario’s legal professionals.
This research guide is a curated, centralized resource that brings together the most important and relevant materials needed to run a family law practice or navigate a family law matter. It draws resources from the Great Library and trusted external sources. It includes
- Primary sources: Key family law statutes, regulations and case law.
- Secondary sources: Leading treatises, loose-leaf texts, encyclopedias, annotated legislation, quantums and CPD materials
- External resources: Links to essential court and government websites, as well as third-party tools (such as safety plans and risk assessments)
- Law Society resources: By-laws, rules, practice supports, and information on the Family Legal Service Provider (FLSP) initiative
The release of the Family Law Research Guide coincides with the first cohort of paralegals graduating from the FLSP program at Fanshawe College. Once authorized by the Law Society, these specially trained paralegals will be able to assist clients with certain family law matters, expanding access to family legal services for Ontarians.
This research guide will be updated regularly to reflect changes in resources and user feedback. We’d love to hear your thoughts—feel free to email us at greatlibrary@lso.ca.
