Accessing free law courses online is easier than you think, and the variety of the subjects on offer is wide. Many leading North American, UK and European law schools offer online courses through learning platforms such as Coursera and edX.

The UK’s Inner Temple Library provides a useful webpage that organizes links to free law courses and lectures into three categories:

  1. MOOCs, Tasters & Courseware
  2. Lecture Collections and Podcasts
  3. Open Access Books and Journals

Flags beside each course indicate the jurisdiction.

Many CPD programs can also be accessed for free. The Law Society of Ontario is offering selected complimentary CPD (Continuing Professional Development) programs this summer.

To assist licensees during the pandemic, the Law Society has been releasing complimentary existing and responsive program content.

Selected on-demand programs from 2015-2017 can be browsed and downloaded for free. Please note this offer expires on September 7, 2020.

And CPDOnline.ca is offering free CPD videos for students from participating law schools. Law students at Queen’s University, Ryerson University and University of Ottawa have access to unlimited free CPD Law videos on CPDonline.ca.
