HeinOnline, Please: Canadian Journals

You may be familiar with the many journals available on HeinOnline, but we wanted to share our trick on how to retrieve results exclusively from their Canadian selection of journals.

While you can use the “Location” filter on the search results page to designate a country, this isn’t always a foolproof method.

If we scroll down to #4 on my results list, the article is from the Queensland University of Technology Law and Justice Journal, an Australian journal.

However, if we were to perform our search using the Law Journal Library, we can filter our results by country instead.

Once you have navigated to the Law Journal Library, click the “Country” filter at the top of the page.

After choosing Canada (or your designated jurisdiction of choice), you can either choose a single Canadian journal or you can simply search amongst all Canadian journals by using the “Search  Journals Published in this Country” bar located at the top of the page.

Now when I run my original search using this method, I no longer retrieve the Queensland University of Technology Law and Justice Journal article, or any other article not published in Canada.

Happy searching! 🍁
