Accessing free law courses online is easier than you think, and the variety of the subjects on offer is wide. Many leading North American, UK and European law schools offer online courses through learning platforms such as Coursera and edX.

One to Watch – An Update on Bill 161

In February of this year, we wrote a post about the Smarter and Stronger Justice Act (Bill 161) which was introduced late in 2019. As previously stated, this act will make changes to over 20 acts impacting the courts, legal aid, legal practice and regulation. On July 8th, the Smarter and Stronger Justice Act received Royal Assent.

As the number of new cases of COVID-19 declines and governments ease restrictions on businesses, services and public spaces, lawyer and paralegal offices are re-opening, bringing more staff back into the physical workplace. Managing this transition involves complying with public health directives, ensuring the safety and well-being of staff and clients, and assessing risks specific to COVID-19 – uncharted territory for most workplaces.
