Online Legislative Research Tutorials

The Great Library is pleased to announce that we will be re-launching our popular online one-on-one legislative research training sessions to interested summer and articling law students, licensing candidates, licensees and law clerks beginning April 25, 2022.

In these sessions, a law librarian can provide guidance and education surrounding legislative research tasks including:

  • tracing the amendment history of a statute,
  • searching Hansard online,
  • effectively navigating government legislation websites like eLaws and Justice Laws.

We can also provide guidance on tackling a particular legislative research problem you’re currently working on. Please note that these sessions can only be used to review legislative research tasks.

Individual sessions of up to 45 minutes in length will be offered every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Please sign up for a spot through our online form.

Once you’ve signed up for a spot, we will send you a confirmation e-mail one week before your scheduled date.  At this point, please let us know if you can still attend your session. If we have received your RSVP, a meeting invite will be sent to you the day before your session. If you don’t hear from us a week before your session, please e-mail us at refstaff@lso.ca.

Don’t have a specific legislative research problem you’re working on? You can sign up for one of our three group legislative refresher sessions in June. Sign up here!
